What a treasure. To hear writing celebrated as a joy, that practice brings unanticipated rewards, and it is expected that you will write many things that will not coalesce into a finished project, yet the process is the reason. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
What a delight to listen to Andrea share her process and how affirming to hear that 1st drafts can be 'awful' and with perseverance and patience turn into something good. Has me thinking of ugly duckling into swan. 😊🩷🦢 I also resonated with one's own process can look very different and that's ok! And finally, that rabbit hole research is not 'wasted time.' I agree so much how deep dive research even if not utilized still has value in how it informs the work. Thanks so much!
"We just need to be able to sit with [our work] and let it emerge in its best form, its most natural form, and that can take a really long time. And it's so hard for all of us in any form of life, to sit and wait, to just patient with ourselves, be patient with the culture. ... It's really hard and it's really important." YES! I am learning to be patient with my work. This practicing terraphilia work I am doing now is the work of my lifetime, and I want to share it now, right now. I have to remind myself that just because it's been simmering for decades does not mean I need to rush now.
right!!!! This invitation to patience has really stayed with me in the last few weeks since our interview ... I am cheering for you, Susan, as you do this "Work of a lifetime!"

Hugs to you! And BTW, I met a poet-friend of yours, Wendy Videlock, at the poetry month event at Paonia Books. She's a delight!
